As a result of your participation, this year’s NAW was the best yet! It brought employers and career seekers together across the country in industries ranging from cybersecurity and healthcare to information technology and transportation. And it’s because of you – our leaders in business, labor, government, and education – that NAW continues to be a huge success in celebrating apprenticeship and showcasing the tremendous impact it has on creating the workforce and economy of the future.

SPOTLIGHTING NAW EVENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY



IUPAT District Council 51, Lanham, MD

Secretary Acosta and Maryland Department of Labor Secretary Kelly Schultz participated in a roundtable discussion at the IUPAT District Council 51 training facility to discuss successful pre-apprenticeship outreach partnerships for veterans, women, high school students and out-of-school youth.



The University System of Georgia Signing Ceremony, Atlanta, GA

The University System of Georgia (USG) and the Department of Labor jointly signed the Registered Apprenticeship Standards in Cybersecurity. The agreement marks the first time a public four-year university system and the Department of Labor have partnered to implement apprenticeship program standards.


Indiana Careers in Construction Association, Indianapolis, IN

The Indiana Careers in Construction Association, the Indiana Bureau of Apprenticeship, and a group of construction apprentices were recognized during an NBA Indiana Pacers game, in a stadium built by apprentices!




CODEIT Software Engineering Open House, Newark, NJ

CODEIT hosted a software engineering open house event to showcase the programs students create during their apprenticeship. Event participants also were invited to try to create a small application or program of their own.




Apprenticeship Accelerator Summit, Houston, TX

Adaptive Construction Solutions, TransPORTS and Workforce Solutions held a summit in Houston, TX, during which several apprenticeship expansions were signed and a regional initiative to expand apprenticeships to foster-youth participation was launched.




Transatlantic Apprenticeship Exchange Forum, Washington, D.C.

The Urban Institute and the Association of Employment and Learning Providers hosted the fourth annual TAEF forum, “Assuring Quality in Apprenticeships: A Transatlantic Dialogue,” discussing the latest developments in U.S.-UK apprenticeship policy, the functions of a well-structured apprenticeship system, and whether existing and new institutions are fulfilling these functions.



During NAW, Veterans Day and National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week also took place and a variety of employers put a special focus on veterans and cybersecurity apprenticeship programs available across the country. Here are a few highlights!



Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Employer Summit, Charleston, SC

Ishpi Information Technologies hosted a Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Employer Summit to connect with employers, educators and others who were interested in learning more about developing cybersecurity apprenticeship programs.





Heroes to Healthcare Recognition Ceremony, Addison, TX

ImPowerQ Associates, Concentra and Valor Healthcare hosted apprenticeship recognition ceremonies for its Heroes to Healthcare initiative, a nationwide program aimed at increasing education and employment opportunities for mid-enlisted level U.S. veterans.




NAW IN THE NEWS & YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA FEEDS



Fox Business interviewed Apprenti Executive Director Jennifer Carlson and Penfed Credit Union CEO James Schenck about helping veterans transition to the civilian workforce or start small businesses through apprenticeship.



NASWA celebrated NAW through dedicated newswire content highlighting the benefits of apprenticeship and NASWA apprenticeship programs and initiatives.











Secretary Acosta and DOL promoted NAW across social media through a series of videos spotlighting job creators that use apprenticeships to develop a highly-skilled workforce. The companies featured include: IUPAT, Raytheon,Techtonic, and Sloan and Company.









NAW SIGNING CEREMONY EVENTS

Throughout NAW, leading organizations including iQ4, Laborers' International Union of North America, and Project Lead The Way held signing ceremonies to celebrate apprenticeship and introduce a new class of skilled workers to the economy. These events are an essential part of NAW as leaders across a range of industries recognize the impact of apprenticeship and its effect on business and career seekers.
